My Suggestion: Don't read the threads that you're not interested in.
I for one don't think you are making a valid comparison: i.e., off topic banter being just as annoying as venue-specific ticket drop threads. If you combine the threads, then people who are interested in buying last minute primo tickets, have to as you put it "wade through" up to forty other non-specific posts or more just to get to the venue that they are interested in. The way it is now you don't have to wade at all. If you want to read about Pittsburgh ticket drops go to that one. If you want to read about Auburn Hills tickets drops then you go to that one. No wading required.
