It's amazing to me how people's views are markedly different.
I take a step back and look at what America has become. Growing up in the 80s and 90s, the change has been remarkable. What the people of this nation have become concerned with, and where their convictions lie...America being continually on the road to isolationism...and becoming master of the art of making the wrong choices. I think we continually make the wrong choices. The nations of the world are slowly gathering strength against us. I'm afraid for America's future, and I don't see a bright spot in it. I hope that America gets this "new beginning" that it's asked for. Part of me can't help but think soon there's going to be a large number of people in the nation divided, and many people in the near future saying more or less "I told you so..." All that aside, I hope change does come, and I hope its for the better.
I could not have said it better. There are so many things deeply wrong in America, so many things that are broken. Most of these have all come crashing down right now, and if we hesitate or make a mistake in handling them, America may just be beyond repair. If the founding fathers saw what was going on right now, they would be ashamed (and that goes for both Democrats and Republicans). We are so divided right now, and there is no quick, easy fix for this or any of the problems that we face. This is why the election was, for me, not mainly about the change or about any one issue, it was about the hope that Obama brings where ever he goes. I hope that this is the first step on our journey to live up to the amazing words of our founders.
