I do think umps have AL and NL strike zones. I mostly watch NL games (Phillies), but when I tune into an AL game I think the home plate umpires are from Mars. The strike zone is completely different. I've seen pitches that are thrown mid stomach in the AL called as strikes where in the NL it would never happen. So I think umpires change their approach per league.

You know how NBA refs work during home games in the playoffs. The away team usually gets fouled to death. Last night's game with Jamie Moyer is a great example. In two games on the road in Milwaukee and L.A., Moyer wasn't getting any close pitches as strikes. Last night's game in Philly, all the calls went in his favor. For a pitcher like Moyer, or Glavine, or Maddox, they rely on a bigger strike zone.

As for Lance Parrish, he ranks as one of the worst free agent signings in Phillie history. It was obvious that he was only after the money. This is a warning to any team wanting to sign Manny Ramirez. He put more effort in performing the last three months than he ever did in Cleveland and Boston combined.
