I think the gender issue is there and has always been there. The first SNL skit illustrated that quite cleverly in that Palin was depicted as a hottie and Hillary as a "boner kliller." Though they speak to different looks, they both speak to looks and the importance of them. In other words, that Hillary was not hot was a detriment.
