Climbing might be an overstatement. He's basically back to within the margin of error to be statistically tied with McCain within 3 points or less. Bear in mind that Kerry was actually much higher in the polls than Obama is right now and he still lost by a fairly wide margin. Polls typically swing more leftward than the actual results would indicate.
