If you read the transcripts of the constitutional convention, they set up the electoral college because they did not want the more populace states like New York dictating the rest of us. They set it up so that each state would have a progressive, but still proportional representation in choosing the president. If they hadn't done that, the president would only cater to Florida, New York, California and very few other places. The rest of us would never be heard because we wouldn't have the population. Geez people, this is very basic stuff. Good God, I learned this in my first year of college. Does anyone pay any attention to anything?!
