The sad part is that this happens on both sides. At this point, probably 90% of the population has decided which way they will vote. That means the candidates are campaigning to the other approximately 10%. Unfortunately, some of them also believe everything they read. That's how we ended up with Bush for 8 years. That and the fact that there are still people out there who are told how to vote or vote "because that's the party I've always voted for." At my poll during the primary I watched a man hand his wife her sample ballot and tell her "I've already filled it out how you should vote." That's scary.
