His response to my questions were:
Nice to hear from you. Well let's see um....What am I thinking and feeling while playing a guitar solo...ah...I think you are really on automatic, you're kind of in a trance, a lot of the time you don't really have much of anything going through your mind...ah....every once in awhile I'm thinking...gee where am I going to go next?...up the neck or whatever, but beyond that I think your just kind of ah... in some sort of a state of ah..almost a sub-conscious kind of a thing going on where you're not really thinking too much about anything.
um...my favorite song on the new album, well that's kind of hard, ah... there are a couple I think for different reasons, "Great Day", I like a lot because my son ah.... was walking around the studio one day singing "Great Day, Great Day" and I said what is that?, he said I don't know. My son is only ten and so I basically took that and used it for the chorus of that song...and so he co-wrote that with me. And also as I already mentioned.. my wife co-wrote the lyrics to "Love Runs Deeper", and so those two songs represent a nice combination of whats going on in my life...which is the creative side and also the family side.
