Interestingly, the economy and just about everyone and the US economy (read surplus) was doing great during the Clinton year tax rates. Moreover, prices were hardly stagnant (hello $4.00+ for a gallon of gas) under the W tax cuts, which greatly favored the wealthy by percentage -- kind of blows your argument out of the water
Kindly explain the connection between tax cuts and $4.00 gas? You can't because there isn't a connection. Besides, the president doesn't set gas prices. He has no magic button under his desk. If we had done what he asked 7 years ago to start drilling again in places where we know there is oil, we wouldn't be in this mess. Your argument is so full of holes and you draw connections that aren't there that it is laughable. I KNOW you are smarter than this. Gas prices are market driven. As supply goes down, prices go up and vice versa. This is econ 101 or just plain common sense.
Also, the economy is not the position of the US government. The position of the US government is simply that. The economy is usually measured by GDP which is in no way connected to whether or not the government has a surplus. All a surplus means is that the government has too much of our money. Please, before expressing an opinion on the economy, at least take econ 101. You really sound stupid.
