^^ Thanks

Hopefully not too ‘off topic’ but I’ve just finished reading Eric Clapton’s autobiography and would recommend it to any fans. It is a very candid description of his life. The summary of his early childhood revealed things I didn’t know about him and it is hard to reconcile the way in which he struggled to learn to play the guitar with the stunning musicianship many of us associate with him. I would have liked to have read more about his playing technique and certainly more about his blues influences. The obvious subjects are tackled in detail – the affair and subsequent marriage to Patti, his alcoholism and heroin addition, and the death of his son. The latter is a difficult chapter indeed. In fact, he reflects on a number of friends and musicians from his early days who aren’t around anymore but the book finishes in more upbeat mood.

If you like him and have the time it is worth reading. Oh John McVie gets a bit of a mention. Eric describes him as the best bass player he has known – I can’t disagree with that.
