Stevie wrote this one after having an appraisal for a ring Lindsey had given her. Originally, she showed the ring to John, Mick and Christine (who bit down hard on the ring, but couldn't assess it's value), so she brought it to a jeweler who informed her it was purchased from a Amway catalog with a free coupon given to new customers. Her first time singing this in the studio was her way of telling Lindsey that she'd uncovered the crime. Separated by a thick, glass studio window, a remorseless Lindsey dismissed her with a shrug before returning his attention to the soundboard. The scent of Twinings Breakfast tea and cigars served as a two-second warning before Christine kicked him in the nuts. Hence, the story of 24 Karat Gold.
