OOTC was still in production then. Albeit, it's fourth or fifth year of production

Seriously, TITN was a huge success. I think based on that, LB thought OOTC would be too. When OOTC was rleased in June 1992, it received huge critical acclaim and LB took it on the road, where it flopped commercially and cost him, according to reports, a pretty penny. Four years later, he is getting ready for the commercial venture called The Dance, which he has flat out said was about the money. Then, SYW is done because, or at least in significant part because, LB's solo record was dropped by the label for whatever reason.
So, I think my conclusion that LB comes back to FM when he wants/needs commercial success is warranted
But, I agree that FM would have taken him back after and before BTM. FM never wanted him to leave.
