I know it's sacrilege to say so, but I hate this movie. When I was little I really thought Dorothy was a moron until I had to read the book for school and saw that the character is supposed to be much younger than Judy Garland looks. Plus I always thought it was rude of the character to say she'd miss the Scarecrow most of all right in front of other friends who were crying that she was leaving. And don't get me started on where the hell was Glinda when the Wicked Witch was threatening Toto or setting the Scarecrow on fire - is the "good" witch only available when it comes to kiolling flowers with snow?
For the record, I was bored out of my skull when I saw
The Wiz as a small child (and I sat through the
Incredible Shrinking Woman and the
Raggedy Ann & Andy Movie - okay, in fairness, that Raggedy movie was even worse). But I did get a kick out of the mother from
What's Happening running a sweat shop, and for a long time afterwards I assumed that's where she was working on the show while Dee was asking Roj or Rerun for a quarter.
I do have a professor who sounds just like Margaret Hamilton, though, & sometimes I picture her with a green face while she talks.
