Just because a particular format holds more music doesn't mean an artist should expected to fill it. I have many newer cds from artists that only have 10 to 12 songs. It's not for lack of content or stinginess, but a conscious decision to make a statement with a concise, small group of songs that don't demand 80 minutes to listen to. In that regard, there is very little room for filler, and the songs stand out more.
I would never wish for less songs from a Fleetwood Mac release -- since the years between their releases get longer and longer...and they aren't getting any younger. I am very grateful they (at least Lindsey) thought out of the box and gave us what amounts to - in vinyl terms - a double album. Yet, because of the volume, many songs got lost in mix. If it had been parred down it would have been less weighty, giving some of the better songs room to breathe. They could have planned for a deluxe version of Say You Will that had all the other songs on a bonus disc. I see that happening alot these day.
