Oh, exactly.
Here's what really chaps my ass: we have freedom of speech and freedom of religion, supposedly... and it's illegal for the government to censor what is said on television or radio, because everyone will bitch about that... but it's perfectly acceptable - righteous even - for these groups to "force" them to censor her comments.
I knew the moment I read what she said that people would have a problem with it. And that's fine and dandy that they do. I'm sure my grandparents or mother would be kind of disgusted about saying "Jesus can suck it".. and they probably wouldn't like Kathy Griffin anymore.. but they aren't members of these extremist organizations. The most they'd do probably is pray for her.
Anyway, interest groups as a whole.. whether they're organizations I would have nothing to do with like the Catholic League or Family Values whatevers, or causes that reflect some of my similar values, Sierra Club, Peta, and to some extent the ACLU.. are really screwing things up for everyone. It's all just about money and - like you said - cramming values down everyone's throat, and it's disgusting. Everybody on every end of the spectrum is getting out of hand these days.
