I kinda considered that but, being naive as I still am at my age, I thought maybe it WAS an early studio demo rehearsal. Then again, how many studio rehearsals do we have from them where the whole band is playing? Seems like they never played live in the studio, rehearsing a song. Everything was overdubbed and layered etc. It's amazing that they pulled anything off live as great as they did.

I think it is. It sounds like that kind of thing to me. Back when I could argue, I used to argue with Loftus about that one. I guess anything can happen if you rent a studio for a whole year, even though it couldn't have been SOP for the band to play as a combo in the studio. You're mic'd differently, so it's a lot of shuffling around. Plus, in Fleetwood's case, they didn't always use the same instruments for recording as they did for live playing. I just don't hear anybody trying on "Beauty & the Beast" as if they were really trying to squeeze an idea out of it. But I don't know for sure. If it had been dated accurately on the reel, you'd have a far better picture (fall '78 vs. fall '79).
