If you ever watched Deadwood when it was on HBO it's from the same director/writer. You can see some clips on youtube. It's a quirky show with lots of twists and turns that you have to pay attention to or rewatch to pick up on. Not the show to watch if you're multi-tasking. It has a great cast. John isn't from Cincinnati and we're not sure what he is or where he is from at this point. Each week you pick up a little more about each character.
As for Imperial Beach, we are the "Most Southwesterly City in the Continental U.S." It says so right on the town sign
As kids we called our town Northern Tijuana. We are as far south as you can go in California before the border. It's still a nice beach/surf town and hasn't, to this point, become as overcrowded as the other beach cities in California.
