Okay, I want the last 15 minutes I spent reading this thread back.
Mary, seriously, you've gone off the deep end here babe.
It all comes down to simple math. If you calculate all the different currencies back to one single currency and then see how much gas people can buy based on their yearly income it's NOT hard to reach the conclusion that people in the UK can buy a lot LESS. I don't get what's so hard to understand about that.
(Oh, and many people have already researched the differences between median household incomes and really, Europe averages below the United States.)
