If he'd come back to England, who would he have played for? Most likely Bolton, Spurs, Newcastle or someone like that. The top 4 clubs wouldn't have been interested. He'd have been playing in the UEFA Cup or something. He would never have put up with that. We'd have had him at Leyton Orient, but I guess the £100 million might have been a sticking point
As a player he's fairly one-dimensional - phenomenal crosser and free-kick wizard sure, but once he lost the pace to run past people - and he has lost that pace - he became a bit of a one-trick pony, which is why Real don't need him any more
He could do a job in the States, particularly for his sponsors
