I am probably going to get flamed for this, but I have always considered Banana Republic to be the place where uninspired straight white guys go to look like they are making an effort. It's brainlessly stylish and sophisticated, yet totally conservative. I dunno... maybe living in NYC and seeing a bajillion of these metrosexual-wannabe straight guys walking around in their BR finest makes me a bit jaded.
