It's not really a "blond" comment... after all, FM's early manager, Clifford Davis, claimed that HE owned the band's name. Which was the whole reason he put out that bogus version of Fleetwood Mac for a time, and the whole reason Mick, et al., had to go to court to fight for the right to continue releasing albums under the name "Fleetwood Mac."

Eventually, the courts decided that the name "Fleetwood Mac" belonged to Mick and John, since they are "Fleetwood" and "Mac."

So I'd say that basically gives them "ownership" of the name and how it's used... which is, in essence, what you said in your first post.
