My mom always used to buy a Thanksgiving bundle thing from the store -they do most of the cooking for you - but you still have to pop the bird in a bit. My doesn't cook
As for frying - I've never had fried turkey...we were going to have a turkey fry at work (when I was in NY) but the week we were going to do it the main fryer's wife (who also worked there and was the co-fryer) ended up in the hospital
so I've still not had the stuff to this day.
