On the other hand, if they started in the studio while Bella Donna was being recorded, and ended with Stevie coming out of rehab, clear-headed at her piano writing DTBTIC, I could see it. All the Mac stuff could be handled in hyperreal drug-fueled flashbacks - that way you couldn't tell what was real and what was exaggerated, thus sparing everyone else's precious reputations.
Much more interesting will be the Landslide of lawsuits that bring down Ms. Lohan is Stevie doesn't like what's going on.

This post is spot on. They would have to center on the party, attractive years, like these things always do.

The affairs would be overdramatized, the songs would be only hits - I would hope for a big blowout scene with Joe Walsh featuring the song "Long Way to Go", but that's probably a bit of a fantasy. Or it would be depicted in the fantasy hyperreal drug fueled flashback mode that you spoke of.
I don't care if she does it or not - we already know that it will be crappy, anyone's rendition of Stevie probably would be subpar to us. But, if it makes more people examine Stevie's work, then, hurrah.
I would wish that we could find an Angela Basset (Tina Turner) or a Phillip Seymour Hoffman (Capote) to do justice to STevie, but I think that is a huge challenge. Which I think will make the movie more about the dramatic entanglements rather than the music.
So.
I know already that the thing that will piss me off most is the same thing that is evident in Stevie's setlist - all the same songs, all the time. I don't think we'll be getting any renditions of how awesome live Stevie really is, and always has been, and all those strange and beautiful moments that her voice really had, which is about 45% of the true breadth of her talent. We ain't getting no Tusk doc Angel dance, if you know what I mean. And I think it would be almost impossible to find any actress to recreate that even somewhat successfully, to be honest.
