It was also one of those shows that should have been taken out of it's misery at least a couple of seasons earlier..... ie, Will & Grace, Roseanne, Seinfeld, Cheers, Cosby, etc., etc.

yeah, the rants got old. especially the whole show they dedicated to the clarence thomas hearings ... yawn! it just made them look bitter and whiny. in the early seasons, it was funny when dixie carter would verbally accost someone on the show, but it got to be gimmicky and unfunny, as you said.
i agree with your list of shows that should've ended earlier. will & grace sucked after HC jr joined the cast. frasier is one of the few ultra long-running shows that i really enjoyed until the last episode.
