I can't watch either but there's no way in hell I will buy a Butterball ever again. I don't mind paying extra money for a free range bird. I find this horrific. I had no idea the beaks were seared off. WTF?
People who abuse animals were likely abused/neglected at home. I'm not talking about people like your friend who believed the propoganda that they can't feel anything. But the people who deliberately mistreat the animals. Those people working with the animals are probably making 5.15 an hour right? They're taking their anger toward The Man out on those poor birds. People suck.
I think most people, if they knew what happened to these birds, would stop buying them. Although many people seem to be able to completely separate what happens to the animals when they're alive from the food they're eating, I never could. Sometimes I wish I could so I could avoid feeling so awful when I hear this stuff.
