True, true... but it's been eight years since Joni's last album of all-new songs. The only "new" releases since then (not counting the four or five compilations) have been the jazz standards album and the album of re-recordings of her old tunes. So certainly Joni went through her own period of being less-than-inspired when it comes to writing/recording new material.
Maybe the same is true of Stevie. Perhaps she's going through a period where she's simply not inspired. And I'm sure, as much as we'd all love for her to record something new, none of us wants her to do something
uninspired, out of obligation. It'd be much better if she takes her time and then comes back with a group of songs she's really passionate about.
Don't get me wrong -- I'm as frustrated as anyone. I'm just trying to look at it as pragmatically as I can.
