I don't find "Shut Us Down" to be extreme or experimental. As I've said, my problem with it is that it sounds fussy to my ears. For something that
should be intimate, the instrumentation and vocal melody are going in two completely different directions. I don't feel like I'm being drawn in, I feel like I'm being pushed away... thus, any real warmth or intimacy is lost.
