I just want to clarify that I have no problem with believing in God/Goddess, and I went to Sunday School myself as a child and I wasnt ruined from it. I dont think it would necessarily ruin Brendan to go to Sunday School either. The problem for me is, I absolutely deplore organized religion anymore, and I object strongly to the notion that a person must attend some sort of church service or be denied membership in the Scouts. Then there is the problem of actually having to pick a Church that we could go to regularly....I frankly object IN PRINCIPLE to the requirement.
Jason, the Boy Scouts didnt used to style themselves a "private organization". When my brother went, they were considered "public access". See the post above from ReligiousTolerance.org that compares/contrasts the two positions. But there is no doubt now that they are operating as a private "club" and as such, can make their own rules (I posted quite a bit of material on this, I hope some of you read it!!!)
I know I went a bit crazy with all the info I posted but I like to research a thing pretty thoroughly and well, I was just incensed.
