It's definitely got a harder sound to it than the last Petty solo effort (1994's Wildflowers) but not as hard as DJ. I dunno... all Petty albums sound pretty similar in many ways to all other Petty albums. He doesn't really change his sound - with the exception of 1987's "Let Me Up (I've Had Enough)." He kind of adheres to the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" frame of mind.
Did you play the video I posted? So far "Saving Grace" is my favorite track.
