Best bet is to uninstall itunes and download the latest version from the apple website. It won't delete your music files. this problem is a bit puzzling. Go into your itunes folder. Its usually in your My Music folder. You need to move the itunes library and itunes music library files to a safe destination, say My Documents. Then you have them backed up.

Then make sure those two files are not in the itunes folder after you have uninstalled the program.

Then when you reinstall the program itunes will ask you if you want it to search your computer for music, if you say yes it will scan everything and put it in itunes.

*** The only downside with this is when you plug your ipod in it will wipe it and update it with the new library list. If you don't want the hassle of waiting for your PC to put the updated library on your ipod (I've got 6000 songs on mine and it takes hours) leave the two library files in the itunes folder before you reinstall.

You got it?

Hang on, can you not just highlight My Computer when you select "Add folder to library" ?? that might do it
