Whereas today, it must just sound like completely dorky old-fashioned country music, cartoonish Nashville-style. I think this is because rock bands don't play music that has that direct link to '60s country rock & mountain music; so some bands like the Grateful Dead would probably also sound goofy & stupid to today's kids.

i'm 21; do i count as one of today's kids? personally, i love appalachian music, and i love when that true americana sound shines through in pop/rock music. it's one of the major reasons i love gram parsons & the byrds, the grateful dead, and, of course, mid-70's fleetwood mac.
