I just have to say something here - and I a m the official proprietess of birthdays (( )) - When you go out with friends for your birthday, you get to do whatever you want. Compromise if you feel like it, but if not, you must proclaim "Hey! I'ts my birthday! I want to stay in this cool bar!" Or, if you decide to go to the dive bar, and it sucks...you must pout and say you want to go back.
For example: My friend Rain takes me to the river every time I visit Chico for my birthday/4th of july weekend. 2-3 days. She doesn't even like the river much - she's very pale with freckles everywhere, and she doesn't like to swim in water, just dive into it then get out. So you see her sacrifice? (her kids love it, though). But - we had to leave at 4-5 pm because each day we had parties to go to afterwards. I like to leave at 7 ish, the evening at the river is the most spectacular time. So what did I do? I pouted for a few minutes in the car on the way back, and said things during the day like "couldn't we be late to the party?".
And all was well, it's the natural order of things. I hope that example helped you understand birthday protocol, perhaps you should share it with your "friends" so next time they will understand the proper course of action. An Aries should be at least as self centered as a Cancer for their birthday.
I'm going to make up a superstitious old wives tale right now:
If your birthday sucks, you will have a great year.
Let it be so....
oooo, it worked! You're going on a trip to Kenya! Yay, I'm magic!!

You're right Amber. By the time I pulled the "it's my birthday" card most people had gone home. Wusses. We went on to The Salty Dog which is a great outdoor bar in Faneuil Hall and I had fun there for like 10 minutes until I picked up my voicemail. My family could've waited to tell me if they'd had half a brain. Sometimes they just don't think though. My aunt left a message saying "Happy birthday, I guess your dad probly told you about uncle Joe, arrangements, etc..." Dumb. Judgement is not their forte. At least my Dad just left a message that said "Call me".
Hopefully next year no one will die on my b-day. I'm going shopping today and sort of pretending it is my extended birthday

I'm working from home and it is perfect outside which is great. I've got the window open, life is good.
On Sat I totally pulled the "it's about me" card with my Mom who was going on about how she should be included in celebrations with my Dad (they are divorced). I have talked to her about that at length saying how that's her issue and they need to work it out. But she has to pull me in. Then I got all upset. She's like, "I always feel left out." I'm like, "Mom, why are you making my birthday about you, it should be about me!" Just call me Miss Sassafrass! She got the message and was a peach for the rest of the day. So I totally pulled an Aries egocentric fit right there.
Kenya is just a few weeks away now! Wowza!!! It blows my mind.
