My only problem with Rumours -- so it would be the one thing I would change -- is the way they recorded Songbird. I don't like it. I empathize with Mick's desire to capture something of the stirring, alienated quality of a post-concert funk, but I just don't think it works on the immaculate, dry-signal atmosphere of the other tracks to have this very wet signal of the live recording onstage at Zellerbach. Sonically, it sticks out like a sore thumb. Both Christine's vocal & her keyboard (recorded in separate takes, by the way) sound as if they were floating in a reverb chamber next door to the gas station restroom.
So that's the one thing I would change on Rumours: I would have recorded Songbird the usual way at the studio & given it plenty of dryness & compression.
