Of for sure. Are you a linguistics major then? I love languages. Although Brazilian Portuguese is different from main land Portuguese. Much more of a African influence. And yes, if you already know Spanish it will make Portuguese easier, but Portuguese has so many more vowel sounds. It's a richer language, IMO.
I studied gutteral German for 3 years. Such an ugly language.
