It shouldn't "mess up" your iPod in anyway, but each iPod has to be linked to an authorized computer if you want to upload songs onto it from that computer.
What you can do: Put the iPod into hard drive mode and upload whatever songs you have on your computer onto the iPod that way. Then your sister can hook up the iPod to her computer, remove all of the songs, and then put them back onto the iPod in regular mode. I
think this works, anyway. I've never done it, but a number of friends have.
