Better late then never. I finally saw the movie last nite. Wow, what can I say that already hasn't been said. It was so beautiful, yet so sad. Here are a couple of my observations:

I was going to go alone but was able to talk my 16 year old son into going with me (he's hetro).

1. The theater was about half full with mostly young to medium aged women with a couple of men. Alot of mothers with their teenage daughters which I thought was interesting. And there was laughter also with the scene when Ennis's wife see's the kiss.

2. Heath gets hotter with age and Jake is hotter younger (yes, this is very important )

3. I thought there was just the right amount of sex in the movie to be tasteful.

4. I wish there was some hand holding too. Especially in the pick up truck when Jack picked Ennis up after their first reunion when they showed the truck drive away (on the way to the motel).

5. That hug that Ennis and Jack had when Jack first came to visit Ennis after the 4 years was so real and powerful and I could really feel their love for one another. I missed the lip biting blood, which makes that kiss even more meaningful.

6. The shirt scene was unbelievably sad, especially with the shirts switched around at the end (yes, I did notice this). Wow, that scene was powerful.

5. I think Jack was definately killed by gay bashing and Ennis and Jack's wife knew that.

6. Ennis going to Jack's parents home and seeing how poor Jack was as a child really made me sad.

7. I think Jack's mom knew Jack was gay. (Giving Ennis the bag to put the shirts in).

Questions:

1. You guys were saying you knew who was straight and who was gay in the theaters, how the hell do you tell?

2. Someone had said in an earlier post that maybe the two men were staight and had a primal gay encounter (cause they were horney) or one was straight and one was gay or both were gay, what do you guy's think? (does that make sense?)

3. Do you think Jack's father-in-law was behind his death?

That's all I can think of for now. I'll post more if I think of anything else.

This movie also really touched me and I can't stop thinking about it also. I thought too that I might be disappointed after all the hype but wasn't although I did find it alittle slow at the beginning. Overall, excellent, excellent movie!
