Naw, Sandy Dunce didn't get AIDS (that would have been unintentionally hilarious). Bateman's best friend (I think his name was Rich) got AIDS. It was such a downer and such a ****ty way to send off the show. I am an unabashed Valerievaleriesfamilythehoganfamily fan, but hoo boy, that finale stunk. In retrospect, I think the writers were a little masochistic. The episode after Valerie died, they had the house catch on fire.
