Don't you mean Valerievaleriesfamilythehoganfamily? That show had so many incarnations that a young boy could NOT keep up. Sandy Duncan bugged, though, and the finale was so depressing. AIDS? Nice way to end it, bitches.
And you totally reminded me of the Boy Scouts episode of Silver Spoons. Teenage Bateman, Ricky Schroder, and Alfonso Ribiero, all in crotch-cutting Scouts shorts. It's funny to this day. I want the DVDs.
