I don't know, I think humor and laughter are the best medicine for a low. Without laughter and a sense of humor (self-reflective at that) I don't think I could have weathered many bad things that have happened in my life. But I guess to each their own. Anyway, Stevie was way too "out of it" back then (late 80's to early 90's) due to drug use to even know which side was up much less crack a few good jokes about herself. But maybe what Chris was referring to was Stevie at the
height of her career not the lowest point. I remember Lindsey saying that by the time of Tango he didn't even recognize Stevie anymore, (in the context of her super stardom), which I took to mean that he didn't recognize her because she was diva'ed out, high up in the rock and roll stratosphere and was totally self-absorbed and unlike the "girl he used to live with." i think it's harder for people to laugh at themselves when they take themselves too seriously and perhaps this is what Chris was referring to?
