I've written fanfic myself and find reading good ones enjoyable. Sadly, in the past couple of years, I haven't had time to do so. I'm pretty sure the fanfic group still exists although I haven't read it in a while.

I'm not quite sure why so many people find the concept of writing about real people so appalling. I didn't see too many people popping veins over Shakespeare in Love, for instance. Indeed, it won an Academy Award for Best Picture. I think the thing that usually bothers people about Stevie/Lindsey fanfic is that it's usually written in "romance novel" fashion and involves sex. The romance genre is dominated by women and thus the vast majority of men dismiss it - and also some women themselves, who have either bought into the misogynist diminishment of the genre or just aren't into it, lol. If you are one who enjoys romance novels and still find fanfic disturbing, it's usually because you prefer to keep any sexual fantasies involving real people in your head. That's understandable.
