It is?
For me, nothing in Fleetwood Mac's catalogue comes close to the transcendence of "Why." It's like a miniature symphony with a number of different movements, each of which comprises its own little slice of heaven. Christine's lyrics are lovely as is her vocal, the production is just perfect - not too sparse, not too busy, with plenty of room for all of the instruments to breathe and find their place - and of course, Bob Weston's intro is just a beautiful, beautiful bit of music.
Beyond that: "Rattlesnake Shake" from the second Boston Tea Party disc ranks pretty high with me as another little bit of transcendence, and "Go Your Own Way" is pop-rock studio perfection, as is "Dreams," and, well, nearly all of
Rumours, of course.
If I start to name anymore, I think I'll run through half the catalogue before I stop.
