Funny you should include that one, since I was just recently thinking about the possible Stevie paralells in that song.
Like the title, for instance? Sisters of Avalon vs Sisters of the Moon.
The one line,
and the distant drum rumbling underground/guides me on/through my wild heart
SOTM:
She was dark at the top of the stairs
And she called to me
SOA:
Felt someone calling me into the howling of the wind
I think I read somewhere that Stevie said that she wrote the song after she'd looked in the mirror, and noticed how she looked: frail, thin and sick.
SOA:
I heard the reflection of a sound echoing through my skin
SOTM:
Intense silence/As she walked in the room/Her black robes trailing
SOA:
They brought her in in a new white dress/But the stain left an ache on her mother's breast/Now all that's left are the ghostly steps from a distant corridor
Obviously, the songs were written about different things (Cyndi said it was really just about being a woman. "What am I gonna write about, bein' a man?!"), but interesting nonetheless.
