I think I am going to go take out the album, make myself a toddy, and wallow in Wintery sadness. Turning the record over will keep me from going down too deep.

That's why I appreciated the latest book so much. He's never delved that deeply into those emotions before. And the link you posted to "The Girl Next Door" - that chapter is pretty freaky too. Actually downright horrifying.
I don't have a copy of "Hejira" though. A friend played it for me once. Heartbreaking.
