Man. There's this website that I go to called www.pointlesswasteoftime.com and they did this satire article about this...

WHITE HOUSE REELING...

...after Star Trek's George "Sulu" Takai's announcement that he is Gay.

George Bush called the news "saddening" and says that he accepted Takai's resignation from heterosexuality "with deep regret."

"The world has changed," said Takai. "I'm confident I can be accepted and admired as an openly gay actor today. It wasn't always like that. Back in the 60's, coming out as gay would have been about as acceptable as suddenly announcing you were a Communist. Actually come to think of it, Communists were fairly common in Hollywood by that point. So scratch that. Let's say coming out as a child molestor then."

Takai fends off criticism during today's press conference.

"A lot of us suspected," says Takai's former castmate William "James Tiberius Kirk" Shatner. "I recall Leonard (Nimoy) always making cracks about being the meat in a 'Sulu sandwich'. There was another time when I suggested to Sulu that he should set a course for "dee'Pfisting 7, Warp 9". Actually, I think that line made it into the show."

Takai joins the growing list of openly gay celebrities.

Still unclear is the impact this will have on White House deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove, who has authored more than 300 pieces of Star Trek slashfic. "Does this mean I have to start writing stories fantasizing about Sulu being straight?" Mused Rove to reporters. "Like where the Enterprise is exposed to a mysterious alien energy that makes all of the crew seek out women for sexual relationships? Because I'm not sure how to do that."
