That is not to say that being a ledgie isn't productive, but for me I don't think that it is. I mean obviously I'm not changing anyone’s minds, and most of the people around here wouldn't care one way or another if I just left. So I really don't think I'm going to stick around...just because I don' see myself being productive.
You're going about discussing politics the wrong way if your main goal is to change people's minds (on an Internet message board, anyway). Of course you're not going to feel productive. And of course people are going to get incredibly frustrated with your posts if that's the underlying motive behind all of them.

EDIT: Also, you need to work on how you frame your arguments. It's your little one-liners and talking points that tend to annoy people. Try to discuss these things in a more serious or detailed way without resorting to the same "Government is bad!" "No nanny state!" "Stereotypical liberal!" "Ann Coulter says!" cliches. That crap makes you sound childish and uninformed, and I'm thinking (hoping) that you know better than that and are able to articulate yourself a little better than that. (And I don't think you have any idea what a "nanny state" is if you think the US is one.)
