Let me start by saying I am not Catholic. That being said.... I do go to several monasteries (of various religions, Christian, Buddist, Tao, Hindu, etc)in the US for sabbatical two or three times a year. They usually very nice places for peace and meditation, especially the Benedictines. One thing I did notice when meeting with the monks and priests is the majority of them are gay. I would say about 90%. Now keep in mind they usually only have about 25 monks per monastery, but it's true that most are gay.
I am shocked that the church would correlate gay with pedophile. Shame on them. I can only assume that this is a self anger and denial issue. I remember commenting to someone at one of the monasteries about what a large majority of the monks are gay. I was told. "No they are not gay, they are celibate". UMMMMM....right...so just because they are flaming and obviously effeminate, that makes them NOT gay?" I was told, "Correct. Mannerisms and feelings are different than actions." Wow.
