Yes, it's horrible! Definitely the worst pain I've ever experienced in my life! It's like being hit repeatedly in the back with a brick! (Not that I've ever been hit with a brick... but you get the picture.) It's caused by the baby being face up instead of face down, and the head laying on your spine, pressing on nerves there.

Most people say the first one is the hardest. I know several women who had horrible first experiences, and the subsequent births were like a walk in the park in comparison. I'm still too scared to try again, though! (Not that that's the only reason I'll probably stop at one... but it does enter into the equation!)
My experience with my son could have turned out even worse, though. They weren't sure that he'd come out with forceps (he was coming out crooked), so they were preparing to do a c-section if that didn't work. If I'd had a c-section after all the hours of pain, as well as being pretty much torn to shreds down there... I might be in jail now for killing my doctor!

Seriously, though, I could barely sit down for about 2 weeks after giving birth, I was so sore down there. If I'd had to deal with a c-section recovery afterwards as well, I would have been in serious trouble. And I'm about as big a wimp as there is when it comes to pain!
