I don't know that I can properly respond to this thread. When it comes to most artists from the 60s, 70s, and even 80s, I don't own or listen to actual "albums." I buy "greatest hits" and "best of" packages. Only if I find myself really in love with the music of the artist will I move on from compilations to actual albums. Thusly, my favorite 70's albums all come from a select and very predictable few.
Damn the Torpedoes - Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers (gee, what a surprise!)
Fundamental Roll - Walter Egan (Now there's a real shocker!)
Bombs Away Dream Babies - John Stewart (I wonder what curly-headed guitarist could've prompted my interest in this one...)
