Wow...I saw Chaka a few years back (after I had already been a Stevie fanatic for a few years) and I had this same thought, very strongly. Thought it was just some little off-the-wall emotional thing that only I felt. Or maybe that I was just influenced by Chaka's black lace & chiffon and big hair! But there is a distinct common thread between these two that's not easy to explain.
Chaka was awesome, my "Stevie feelings" aside, and you shouldn't miss her if she comes to your town!
