To the best of my recollection, Joyce did say that. Not sure if it was originally on Donahue or not, but I remember reading about it back in the '80s.
She went on some spiritual journey and had some sort of out-of-body experience, and was then able to channel spirits.
Ironically, Janet was supposed to be the sensible one!
